Geotab causing Battery Drain for the vehicle

If the vehicle is experiencing battery drain issue caused by Geotab device , check for Engine Faults .
If there are any faults reported for the unit e.g multiple faults for  Telematics device removed , unplugged or restarted , Please collect the following information from the customer and forward to Geotab :

Parasitic / amperage draw test????? steps

1. Please confirm the date and time of last battery drain instance
2. Measure the current draw on the battery with and without the GO device
  • Measurements with the GO Device connected must be performed once the device has entered sleep mode (all device lights off)
  • If possible, be on call with the customer when these measurements are being taken
  • The Electrical characteristics for the GO device can be found in this document: GO9 Support Document [PUB]
    • The Go device should draw approximately 3.0 mA when it is in sleep mode
  • Goal of the test: the Customer / Technician in charge of managing these vehicles should be able to prove that there is a high amount of current draw with the GO Device(s) connected (with vehicle power / ignition OFF), which disappears when the GO Device(s) is/are disconnected

Engine Interference questionnaire (please ask Customer / Driver / Technician in charge of managing this vehicle to fill out in its entirety):

1) What is the make/model/year and VIN of the vehicle in question?
2) When was this device first installed and when did these issues first arise, if possible down to date and time (for both)?
3) Can you please provide specifics on the issues experienced? Lights on the dashboard - which lights? All of the dashboard lights? Any safety issues (in terms of being able to operate the vehicle)?
4) Can you please provide the serial number of the device installed in this vehicle?
5) Is this vehicle used for ELD compliance?
6) Do the symptoms always immediately disappear once the GO device is unplugged (do they ever linger)?
7) Has another device been tested in this vehicle? Did the symptoms persist?
8) Is this device connected through a harness? If so which type? Does removing the harness (if possible to test without) or
replacing it resolve the issue?
9) Does this vehicle have any other third-party devices connected in parallel to the GO device (ex. Wheelchair lift, etc)?
10) Does the vehicle have any aftermarket modifications or non-OEM factory settings on the ECM?
11) Would visiting the vehicle at all be a possibility (should our firmware team want to complete tests on site)?
12) Where is this vehicle primarily located (city, country)?
13) If the device is currently installed in the vehicle (and easily accessible), could you please provide us with a picture of the installation?
