ZenduCAM SW Troubleshooting

This article explains the multiple methods to troubleshoot the SmartWitness ZenduCAM.

Information to Collect

Record the information of any hardware that is currently in use:
  1. DRID/SERIAL # of the Camera device
  2. Vehicle # in which the Camera is installed
  3. SIM card #

Indicators

Once the ignition is turned on, the following are common light sequences indicating an issue:
  1. No power to the unit
  2. DVR box beeping
  3. No lights
  4. Red only
  5. Blinking Red only
  6. Red (solid or blinking) and Blue only (most common)
  7. Red (solid or blinking)  and Green (solid or blinking) only
  8. Blue and Blinking green

Level 1 Troubleshooting

Routine Connectivity & Install Check
Secondary camera not working
Indicators- Blue, Green, Red- Solid

Check if the connections are secured and all the cameras are connected to the appropriate channel. In addition, refer to the table below. A and C refer to the camera model that ends with SVXXXX-A and  SVXXXX-C.




Followed by that, Check if the issue is with the camera issue or cable

Camera Issue or Cable

      1. Check if the cable connected to the driver-facing camera is loose or is there any pinched cable
      2. Disconnect all secondary devices from the CP4 unit
      3. Connect each camera one by one on CH1

If all secondary cameras are working on CH1, the issue is most likely in the Camera input cable.
Furthermore, if you have a spare input cable, test it using the spare Camera input cable.



Main DVR unit issue

      1. Check light status.
Follow below troubleshooting steps to see if the unit is powering up.
      2. Turn off the ignition.
      3. Remove the SD card and re-insert it back
      4. Remove the SIM card and re-insert it back.
Make sure the ignition is completely turned off before removing and inserting the SD card and SIM card.

SD card issue
  1. SD card not reading
  2. Format error
  3. Unable to format

Write protected

Check if the yellow switch on the SD card is pushed next to a locked picture. If everything is checked, the SD card is not good and a replacement is needed.

Regardless of hardware issues, always make sure the user has checked each and every connection, including harnesses and/or the IOX, if applicable. The vast majority of issues result from insecure connections.
